The key to achieving the best possible adhesion and protection lies in proper surface preparation. It is of utmost importance that the surface is clean, dry, and free of any oil or grease before application. To ensure a uniform coating, the heavily-concentrated rust preventive should be shaken vigorously for approximately 2 minutes before use, and intermittently during longer application sessions.

Applying RP-342 is a straightforward process - simply spray a generous, even coating onto the desired surface and allow it to dry. While a single application will provide exceptional protection, additional coats can be applied if desired, with the caveat that previous coats must be allowed to dry completely before applying the next. Ideally, RP-342 should be applied to a non-rusted surface, but it can also be used to prevent the spread of moderate surface rust. However, it should not be applied over flaking or pitted rust, as these advanced forms of corrosion should be addressed prior to treatment.

The typical first application will result in a dry film thickness of 2.0 Mils (51 Microns), and the versatility of this product is truly impressive.
